Remove dry skin naturally with this orange honey sugar scrub. Summer is finally here! If you are anything like me, that means lots of time out by the pool and hopefully by the ocean on vacation. Unfortunately all this time out in the chlorine and salt water can leave the skin exceptionally dry.
Instead of always turning to mass produced exfoliators and chemical moisturizers, try this fun orange honey sugar scrub and coconut oil. Once the skin has been exfoliated, you can lather the skin with coconut oil to lock in moisture naturally. This orange honey sugar scrub can be used anytime of the year, but during the summer it reminds me of tropical drinks I enjoy by the pool on vacation.
This scrub would be a great addition to your at home spa routine on your staycation. It would also be a great way to prepare the legs, elbows, and other dry areas before applying self tanner. You will want to eat this sugar scrub by the spoonful once you smell it. The great part is, you can! Although that might be a bit of a sugar rush if you do!
I like to make enough scrub to use for a few days, but not so much that I have to store it for weeks. This recipe will get your through the week if you are just applying it to dry areas. If you are doing a scrub down of your body before applying self tanner, this recipe will be just enough!
- 1/3 cup of organic sugar
- 1 tbs. olive oil
- 1-2 tsp. honey
- Orange peel about 1 tbs – the peel of about half an naval orange.
- Combine the ingredients in a small bowl.
- Apply to the dry skin in a circular fashion, to exfoliate the skin.
- Rinse off with warm water.
- Dry the area with a towel.
If you are planning to apply sunless tanner, don’t moisturize the skin with coconut oil. Read the directions to the self tanner and wash the area if necessary.
Otherwise, apply a thin layer of coconut oil to moisturize the skin leaving it silky smooth!
